Personal Budget Planner

Developing an interactive application for basic financial education and expense management.

The Challenge

Many users lacked a clear understanding of their monthly cash flow. Expenses were recorded chaotically in various apps or notes, without a unified visualization to show them where their money was going and how they could allocate it more effectively for goals like savings or investments.

The Solution and Process

We created a digital budget planner, centered on simplicity and education. The process began with user research sessions to identify cognitive barriers to financial terminology.

  • Concept Phase: We mapped the typical income and expense flow for a young adult, eliminating technical jargon.
  • Interface Design: We designed a clean interface, with intuitive categories ("Housing", "Transport", "Recreation") and a visual system of colored bars to indicate progress against the set budget.
  • Educational Integration: Each category includes brief explanations and practical tips (e.g., "20-30% of income is a healthy allocation for housing").
  • Development and Testing: The prototype was tested with a target group, and feedback led to the simplification of the data entry process.

94%

of users reported a better understanding of their budget after one month of use.

+2.5x

increase in budget review frequency among active users.

87%

started consistently allocating money to a savings fund.
