Educational Platform for Understanding Personal Budgeting

Developing an interactive resource to demystify financial planning for users with no prior experience.

The Challenge

Many young adults in Romania have not received formal financial education, leading to suboptimal decisions regarding savings, spending, and debt. Existing information is either too technical or promotes specific products. There was a need to create a neutral, accessible, and practical space.

The Solution and Process

We designed a modular platform that guides the user through the fundamental stages of money management. The process involved:

  • User Research: Interviews to identify the main cognitive barriers (e.g., terminology, fear of math).
  • Content Architecture: Structuring information into short "courses," from basic concepts to medium-term planning.
  • Interactive Development: Creating simple calculators for budgeting, compound interest, and a financial emergency simulator.
  • Iterative Testing: Validating clarity with target groups and adjusting the language.

Results and Impact

The platform was launched as a free resource. In the first 6 months, it attracted over 15,000 unique users. A post-interaction survey showed a significant increase in confidence in the ability to create a budget (from 22% to 67% of respondents). The content was also adopted by several non-profit organizations in their community education programs.
